SPOTLIGHT ON FFA

Travis Fehr

Travis Fehr is a senior at West Bend-Mallard Community School and the son of Darren and Nora Fehr, of Mallard. He serves as treasurer for the Hawkeye FFA Chapter.

1.) Why FFA?:

I am involved in FFA because it is a skill-building organization that helps prepare its members for life. Being an officer, we get to make decisions and be in charge.

2.) FFA project:

My SAE projects are raising bottle calves and helping an electrician part-time and seasonally.

3.) I’ve learned:

I have learned a lot about various ag things including soils and the value of good leadership.

4.) Career path:

I will probably end up farming and raising cattle..

5.) College plans:

I plan on attending Iowa State University and majoring in an ag-related field.

6.) FFA acvtivities:

State Convention, State official delegate, District AND State Soil Judging, Farm Business Management Team, 360 Conference, COLT Conference, chili-oyster supper, fruit sales, Palo Alto Corn Growers Ag. Quiz Bowl, Farm Safety Days, tractor pull, back to school barbecue, Fourth of July parade, National FFA Week, member service auction, Farmer Fred helper, landscaping projects, helped with SWCD Tree Day, Davis Dairy Days.
