Wells’ Dairy expands recall of ice cream products

By Staff | Feb 27, 2009

LE MARS (AP) – Wells’ Dairy is expanding its voluntary recall of ice cream products because of a possible risk of salmonella.

The Le Mars company says the products may contain peanuts from a Georgia-based company linked to a salmonella outbreak blamed for at least eight deaths nationwide.

Wells’ Dairy recalled some Blue Bunny ice cream products at the end of January. The latest recall includes select Blue Bunny, Great Value, Hy-Vee, Sysco, Fastco, Shurfresh and Country Rich products. The products have a ”best used by” dates before Feb. 4, 2010.

Consumers who bought the recalled products should return them to the store for a refund.
