New Webster County soil survey available

By Staff | Mar 6, 2009

An updated and expanded soil survey of Webster County will be reviewed and demonstrated at 7 p.m., Thursday, at the Webster County Extension ffice. Soil scientist, NRSC and ISU Extension staff will discuss and demonstrate the soil survey available in a notebook or DVD.

All attendees will have their own copy at the conclusion of the program.

The previous soil survey was published over 35 years ago. The revised and expanded survey has GPS/GIS coordinates and is designed for individuals to identify their farmland with numerous characteristics.

Webster County has invested over $180,000 during the past five years to provide the information for more profitable, more environmentally friendly land stewardship.

The improved accuracy of the CSR’s and soil characteristics will be used by the county assessor, realtors, contractors and farm managers. The Webster County Extension office will have the soil surveys available at no cost.

Bring a laptop computer, but not required, and learn about a new tool for profitable production. Arrive early, because seating is limited.
