Webster County Pork queen, princess named

Laura Condon, daughter of Tom and Jane Condon, of Barnum, was named as the 2009 Pork Queen for Webster County monday night. She was also awarded one of two $250 scholarships from the Webster County Pork Producers.

The 2009 Webster County pork queen and Princess were named Monday night during the county’s annual pork banquet, held at The Cellar, in Fort Dodge.

Laura Condon, daughter of Tom and Jane Condon, of Barnum, was introduced as the 2009 queen. She served last year as the county’s princess. Condon is a senior at St. Edmund’s High School in Fort Dodge, where she is a cheerleader.

She is active in 4-H and is planning to attend Iowa State University this fall.

Renee Castenson was named as Webster County’s 2009 pork princess. She is the daughter of Dave and Kristi Castenson, of Harcourt. She is a junior at Southeast Webster-Grand, in Burnside.

Castenson is a four-sport athlete and has shown hogs at the Webster County Fair every year since she joined 4-H.

Scholarships awarded

Webster County pork producers also awarded two $250 scholarships including one to Condon and another to Joe Hora, of Fort Dodge. Both students are planning to attend ISU next fall.
