Iowa ag academy planned in 3 sites
The 2010 Teachers Ag Academies will be held in three sites in 2010 – the Borlaug Learning Center in Nashua on June 15 and 16; Mt. Pleasant Civic Center on June 22 and 23 and Webster County Iowa State University Extension office in Fort Dodge on June 29 and 30.
This year’s theme, “Get Right to the Core in Iowa,” will help educators see the connection on how environmental and agricultural education fits into Iowa core curriculum.
The academies are open to classroom teachers, Ag in the Classroom volunteers, child care providers, 4-H volunteers and anyone interested in learning about the connection between Iowa’s environment and agriculture.
Graduate and child care provider credit is also available. Participants will receive information and activities to use with youth from pre-kindergarten through 12th-grade. Individuals not wanting credit can attend for free, but advanced registration is required.
Anyone interested in attending should contact AEA267, Great Prairie AEA, Prairie Lakes AEA or their local Farm Bureau office for information on how to register.
The academies are sponsored by Iowa Farm Bureau Federation, Iowa State University Connecting Learning and Living, ISU College of Agriculture and Education and Studies and the Iowa 4-H Foundation.
