Iowa State Fair offers new ‘kid tracker’ kits
DES MOINES – New to this year’s fair, parents can rent or purchase small GPS tracking devices to help keep tabs on their children during busy fair days.
The 2010 Iowa State Fair seeks offers a safe environment for the fair which started Thursday and will continue to Aug. 22.
The ISF will offer personal automated locaters to fair-going parents with young children. SecuraPAL is a small, lightweight locator that can easily attach to a child’s belt or slip into a pocket.
The device features a GPS tracker and SOS button that a child can use to contact his or her parents. In case of an emergency, GPS coordinates for each device will be available through a secure website that can be accessed from the parents’ smart phone or in the Service Center or Public Safety Headquarters located at the west end of the Grand Concourse.
These devices may be rented for $9.99 per day. A limited number of trackers will also be available for purchase starting at $129.99.
While the fair is a fun and safe environment for Fairgoers of all ages, these safety services offer parents additional ways to keep family members together so everyone can enjoy the experience.
