Iowa harvest nears finish line early
With three weeks of harvest-friendly weather, Iowa’s crops are being gathered at a near-record pace – with the corn harvest nearing completion in the earliest date since 2000 and soybeans since 1987, according to the National Agricultural Statistic Service.
As of Monday, the NASS said Iowa’s progres included;
- Corn: Northwest 68 percent; north central 82 percent; northeast 62 percent; west central 56 percent; central 78 percent; east central 73 percent; southwest 33 percent; south central 42 percent; southeast 75 percent; state average 66 percent; last week 40 percent; last year 9 percent; five-year average 27 percent.
- Soyeans: Northwest 99 percent; north central 99 percent; northeast 94 percent; west central 97 percent; central 98 percent; east central 83 percent; southwest 90 percent; south central 81 percent; southeast 87 percent; state average 94 percent; last week 80 percent; last year 36 percent; five-year average 73 percent.
