Bears repeating

By Staff | Dec 31, 2010

To the editor;

Two items in the Dec. 17 Farm News bear repeating.

  • Rick Friday’s cartoon showing an elf turning down Santa’s job offer because his unemployment benefits had been extended was an economics lesson in one picture. Subsidies always bring about more of what they subsidize.
  • Then in David Kruse’s column he quotes the Congressional Budget Office as stating “every $1 spent on unemployment benefits generates up to $1.90 in economic growth.” The inmates are truly running the asylum.

Why should anyone work?
