7th annual IA Sheep & Wool Festival slated
The 7th annual Iowa Sheep & Wool Festival is set for June 11 to June 12 at the Dallas County Fairgrounds in Adel.
Each year the Iowa Sheep Industry Association hosts the festival in efforts to educate and entertain the public and producers about the multifaceted sheep industry.
This year includes a line-up of classes, sheep and goat seminars, lamb cooking events, a lamb lover’s feast, sheep and goat shows, fleece show, silent auction, photo gallery, the Eweth Corner, shearing demonstrations, Hall of Breeds and sheepdog trials.
Not only is the festival educational, but there will be entertainment and activities during both days.
The Eweth Corner will feature sheep-related activities specifically for children.
Knitters can look forward to the World Wide Knit in Public Day which will take place on Saturday, with 28 fiber arts classes scheduled with instructors coming from Wisconsin, Nebraska, Missouri, South Dakota, Minnesota and Iowa. All skill levels may participate.

Education is on tap with a full schedule of sheep and goat seminars conducted by industry professionals throughout the state and the Midwest.
Other producer-related activities will be available including sheep shearing demonstrations both days and livestock shows throughout the weekend.
A popular event, the Lamb Lovers’ Feast, is set for Saturday at 6 p.m. The menu will feature two lamb appetizers, a leg of lamb entree and all the accompaniments.
