Webster City farmer faces animal neglect charges

WEBSTER CITY – John Patrick Thompson, 56, of Webster City, was charged Wednesday with 22 counts of livestock neglect and 14 counts of duty to dispose of animal carcasses after a search warrant was executed by the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities searched the property at 1835 White Fox Road and 1878 N. Stonega Ave., according to a press release from the sheriff’s office.

Eleven head of livestock were seized and are being cared for by the Animal Rescue League and a local farmer at undisclosed locations, the sheriff’s office said.

Assisting the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office were the Animal Rescue League, a veterinarian and a local farmer.
