Humboldt farmer hurt in field fire
Humboldt-area farmer, Lloyd Goodell, 80, was burned Thursday when he was caught in a corn field fire he was working in.
The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Department said Goodell was in a tractor cutting stalks, when the fire started.
He was rushed to the Humboldt County Memorial Hospital by the Humboldt Fire & rescue and Humboldt County Ambulance Service. He was later airlifted to University of Iowa Hospitals Burn Treatment Center by Mercy 1 helicopter.
Goodell sustained burns to his legs, arms and face.
Fire fighters responding to the field fire were from Humboldt, Gilmore City and Clare.
Numerous farmers with tractors and tillage equipment assisted fire fighters, the sheriff said.
The fire was one of eight in Humboldt County on Thursday.
