One injured in train versus tractor accident

A tractor crossing Union Pacific Railroad tracks on 160th Street in rural Fort Dodge was struck by a train Monday morning.

According to the Webster County Sheriff’s Department, Rodney Peterson, 70, of Fort Dodge, was traveling east on 160th Street near Samson Avenue when his International tractor was hit by a Union Pacific train shortly before 8 a.m. Monday.

In the aftermath of the crash, Peterson’s leg was pinned under the tractor. He was extracted and transported by Vincent Rescue to Trinity Regional Medical Center.
