Weather outlook for 2012 planned

S. Elwynn Taylor, Iowa State University agriculture meteorologist, will be in Fort Dodge at 3 p.m., on Nov. 30 to talk about the outlook for the 2012 growing season.
Taylor is one of five speakers set to make presentations during the 2011 Farm News Ag Show, Nov. 30 and Dec. 1, to be held at the Career Education Building on the Iowa central Community College campus.
To celebrate its 10th annual farm show, Farm News is giving away a four-day, three-night trip for two to Las Vegas. Travel dates are Feb. 12-15 or March 4-7, 2012, subject to availability.
Taylor’s appearance is sponsored by Anderson Implement. He said he’ll discuss the risks producers will face before, during and after getting new seed into the soil next spring.
Taylor has been a member of the technical review committee for USDA Proposals in Agricultural Meteorology since 1991. He’s also presented papers at the annual meetings for the American Metrological Society seven times.

- Dr. Harold Prior, executive director of Iowa Wind Energy, at 1 p.m. on Nov. 30. He’ll talk about “The Small?Wind turbine market: Tips for prospective owners.”

- David Kruse, president of CommStock Investments, in Royal, at 9 a.m.
He’ll talk on “The agricultural Eagle: In the flock of turkeys can be ag sector keep flying high?”
- Dr. Kendall Lamkey:, chairman of the ISU agronomy department, at 1 p.m.
He’ll speak on “Prospects and challenges to raising a 300-bushel corn crop.”
