3 workers injured at Iowa ethanol plant
NEVADA (AP) – Authorities say three workers were injured when a steam pipe burst at an ethanol plant in Nevada in Story County.
Rescue crews were called to Lincolnway Energy LLC, on a report of an explosion Monday afternoon.
The plant’s general manager and president, Rick Brehm, said a power surge caused a steam pipe in a shed to break, burning three workers who were doing maintenance.
Nevada Fire Chief Dana Wipperman said the workers were taken to an Ames hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Telephone calls by The Associated Press to the plant and the fire department were not returned Monday afternoon.
