Don’t fear red Devon cattle
To the editor,
In response to the Jan 6 Associated Press article “Few U.S. vets treat organic livestock,” I’d like to assure young people not to be fearful of going with grass-fed beef, particularly red Devon.
I have had red Devon since 2004 and I’ve called a vet once and that was because a cow had feet and leg injuries.
We in the North American Devon Association have been breeding quality healthy cattle for all of 100 years. I haven’t given any shots, wormed, or used implants or pampered my cattle since I started with red Devon.
My brother is dying of cancer so that makes me more inclined to get more young people to do what we can to slow at least this cancer problem.
