Webster County Extension hosting ACRE decision meeting
FORT DODGE – With the uncertainty of the 2013 and 2014 crop yields and prices, a review of the Average Crop Revenue Election program will be held at 9 a.m. on April 9 at the Webster County Extension office in Fort Dodge.
The two-hour program will feature Kelvin Leibold, an Iowa State University Extension farm and ag business management specialist, and Gary Yoch, Humboldt County Farm Service Agency executive director, presenting background information and possible cropping scenarios to assist producers in making federal program decisions.
ACRE provides immediate term protection against the risk of falling revenues from crop production, in exchange for reduced direct program crop payments.
Yoch and Carolyn Leners, Webster County Farm Services Agency executive director, will answer producers’ questions related to program sign-up requirements and deadlines.
Signup for the 2013 ACRE program at an FSA office will be through June 3. Signing up for ACRE is a one-year commitment.
The April 9 program is being organized by ISU Extension-Webster County, Humboldt FSA, Webster County FSA and Webster County Farm Bureau.
Pre-registration not required. For additional information, contact Leibold at (641) 648-4850.
