Iowa ag sales up over 2012
The preliminary March price received for corn in Iowa was $7.20 per bushel according to the March 27 USDA, National Agricultural Statistics Service – Agricultural Prices report.
This is a $0.97 increase from March 2012. It was 2 cents over the U.S. average price.
Preliminary March Iowa soybean prices are $1.70 higher than March 2012, at $14.50 per bushel, which matched the U.S. price received.
The preliminary March oat price is $4.20 per bushel, an increase of $0.57 from one year ago. It exceeded the U.S. price at $4.09.
All hay prices in Iowa increased $93 per ton to $232, compared to March 2012. This was well above the U.S. average price for all baled hay at $196 per ton.
Alfalfa hay prices increased $99 per ton to $248.
Other hay prices increased $66 per ton to $160.
Iowa dairy farmers received an average of $19.50 per hundredweight for milk sold in March, which $1.90 more than one year ago. It was 50 cents over the national price received at $19.10.
