Ted Crosbie, Monsanto Co. Lead, honored with Iowa Innovation Founder Award
ST. LOUIS (MONSANTO) – The Iowa Innovation Corp. recently announced the 2013 Innovation Leaders award recipients included Ted Crosbie, integrated farming systems lead for Monsanto, in recognition of his service to providing innovative solutions to grow and support Iowa’s economy.
Recipients of these awards were recognized on Jan. 7, at the Governor’s Innovation Recognition Dinner.
The IIFA recognizes individuals who, for the past 10 years, have led the effort to change how economic success is measured, how to define gaps in the innovation eco-system and how those gaps are filled.
Growing up on a farm near Paullina in O’Brien County, Crosbie’s association with agriculture is long standing. Having a Ph.D. in plant breeding and cytogenetics from Iowa State University, Crosbie joined Monsanto in 1996 as director of global heat breeding.
He then joined the seeds business team in the ag sector of Monsanto in 1998 and was named a Distinguished Fellow in Science in 2002.
In 2005, Iowa Governor Tom Vilsack named Crosbie as chief technology officer for Iowa.
“The award is a credit to Crosbie’s lifetime of work helping the state of Iowa with job creation and economic development,” said Dave Tierney, Monsanto’s director of Midwest region and community affairs. “Crosbie has volunteered so much of his time to the betterment of the state.”
Monsanto’s Integrated Farming Systems Platform, launched in 2012, works to drive yield through proprietary breeding technology combined with equipment technology advances.
The platform uses advanced seed genetics, on-farm agronomic practices, software and hardware innovations to enhance recommendations for seed optimization through next generation planting, fertility and water management.
