Prevented planting meeting set

By Staff | May 28, 2013

MANLY – If a crop can’t be planted what will crop insurance provide? How can herbicide and fertilizer be managed for a different crop?

These questions will be answered at the Prevented Planting Meeting scheduled at two meetings on Friday.

Two meetings will be held during the day. The first meeting will be held at the Bethel United Methodist Church, 503 E. South St., in Manly, on east edge of Manly on Iowa Highway 9 starting at 9.

The second meeting will be at the VFW Hall, U.S. Highway 218 north of Osage, starting at 1:30 pm.

Iowa State University Extension farm management specialists will be on hand to discuss the details of prevented planting and the possible crop insurance implications.

Field agronomists will answer questions about the delayed planting impact on crops, herbicide program management and the use of fertilizer should planting continue to be delayed.
