SHELDON – Ziegler CAT is a business making its presence known in the tri-state area, and is now expanding its operations to include a new facility in Sheldon.

The newest Caterpillar distributor sits on approximately 21 acres and will become one of Ziegler 23 locations.

CAT’s newest location will sell and provide full service to a full line of Ziegler Cat compact and heavy construction equipment, generators and a new vocational truck.

Its roughly 26,000-square-foot facility will have half of that area as shop, 9,000 square feet as warehousing and storage, and the remainder for lobby and office areas.

It will house agricultural equipment, including Challenger tractors; LEXION combines; RoGator, TerraGator, and SpraCoupe application equipment, White planters and Sunflower tillage equipment.

An overnight shuttle system will connect this business with its 22 other counterparts for parts supply.

“We’re excited to expand our presence in Iowa,” said William Hoeft, Ziegler’s chairman and chief executive officer. “With the construction of this new facility, we can provide a higher level of service to our customers in northwest Iowa.”

Ziegler is a `family-owned company founded in 1914, employing more than 1,400 people.

Hoeft said Ziegler plans to employ between 18 to 25 additional people at the Sheldon site and hopes that its presence in the industrial park area will make the remaining 40-plus acres more appealing to other incoming businesses.

The company has locations in Wisconsin, Iowa and in Minnesota.
