Becca Lair, is a senior at Estherville Lincoln Central High School in Estherville. She is the daughter of Russ and Tammy Lair, from Estherville, a member of the Estherville FFA chapter and serves as northwest district secretary.

1.) Why FFA?:

I first got involved in the FFA because my sister told me to, and I’m really glad she did.

2.) FFA project:

My FFA project is my SAE, or supervised agricultural experience, where I raise steers and breeding heifers.

3.) I’ve learned:

Through competing in career development events, I have learned how to stand up and comfortably talk to many people.

4.) Career path:

My plan is to become a neurologist. Even though this field is not agriculturally related, FFA has still helped me develop the communication skills that I would need as a doctor.

5.) College plans:

I have not decided on a college yet, but I’m thinking of going to my family’s favorite school, Iowa State University and majoring in premed.

6.) FFA acvtivities:

I have been to national convention twice, I have competed in agricultural communications for the past three years at state convention. I was a chapter officer my sophomore year where I help with local activities like the teacher appreciation breakfast and EPAK day; I am on my second term as the northwest district secretary, where I have lead workshops for district wide leadership camps such as Greenhand camp and district Chapter Officer training camp.
