Brie Walker
Brie Walker is a junior at Algona High School and the reporter for the Algona FFA chapter. She is the daughter of Mark and Tracy Walker of Algona.
1.) Why FFA?
My father was an active FFA member and officer and he talked about all the things he was able to do and all the places he went.
2.) FFA project:
My SEA projects are a bottle lamb entrepreneurship, working in a hog confinement for my dad and uncle in a job placement category.
3.) I’ve learned:
FFA has taught me public speaking skills, while many of my peers continue to struggle with public speaking.
The leadership skills I’ve gained through being an officer and chapter committee member have also carried over to dance team captain and student council.
4.) Career path:
I have no direction yet, but I am certain it’s something in the agriculture industry.
5.) College plans:
If by graduation I know what I want to pursue, then I plan to go straight to Iowa State University. If I’m still not sure what career is right for me, then I’ll attend DMACC for my general education classes and transfer to ISU after two years and a decided major.
6.) FFA activities:
1). Greenhand fire up.
2). Sub-District and District Conduct of meetings CDE.
3). 85th National FFA Convention and Expo; Indianapolis, Indiana.
4.) 86th National Convention and Expo; Loiusville, Kentucky.
5.) District Soils.
6.) 2013 officer retreat to Okoboji.
7.) National Barrow Show twice.
8.) Beef Expo twice.
9.) Sioux Empire Livestock Judging.
