Pocahontas County sets 4-H Robot Camp

POCAHONTAS – Pocahontas County 4-H will be holding two summer 2014 Robotics Camp programs from – June 23 to June 28.

Campers will choose between two levels of three-day robotics experiences held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily led by Master 4-H Robotics educator, Sue Jarvis.

The level 1 robotics and technology camp is for youth entering fourth and fufth grades. They will meet June 23 to June 25.

They will build junk drawer robots, learn how to build and program robots to meet beginning challenges with Junior First Lego League, and learn to use laptops, Legos, and Robotics software to create Lego bots.

The level 2 robots and beyond camp is for youth sixth to eighth grades. They will meet from June 25 to June 27.

They will learn how to build and program NXT Robots, use sensors and build and program robots to meet a series of tasks.

Programmers will use FIRST Lego League challenges and fun learning as they create and redesign robots as a team.

Camps are limited to 20 youth registered on a first come first serve basis.

Youths may attend identical Level 1 or Level 2 camps being offered in Buena Vista, Calhoun, Ida and Sac counties.
