LE MARS – The Le Mars Area Chamber of Commerce’s agriculture committee, along with the Plymouth County Agricultural Society, announced on April 23 a new exhibit to be featured at the Plymouth County Fair, from July 23 to July 27.

The exhibit, titled: “A ROUND the farm in the BARN” will showcase an array of interactive displays featured inside the iconic Round Barn located at the Plymouth County Fairgrounds.

“We are excited about this exhibit” said Tony Schroeder, president of the Plymouth County Fair Board. “People naturally associate the famous landmark Round Barn with agriculture.

“So, it is only appropriate the Round Barn will have an agricultural education exhibit.”

“Inside the Round Barn will be a variety of displays from Iowa’s agricultural commodity and farm organizations,” said Schroeder. “In addition, fair attendees will have the opportunity to view many scenes from Plymouth County agriculture with the variety of scenic photos and video that will be on display.”

Paul Jacobson, chairman of the Chamber’s agriculture committee, said, “The agriculture committee is proud to partner with the Plymouth County Fair Board to assist with this exhibit.

“Everyone that views this exhibit will learn a little more about Plymouth County agriculture, and how our food is produced, processed, transported, marketed, and ultimately placed on a shelf at the local grocery store or supermarket, ready for our consumption.

“Our focus is for fair attendees to experience the economic impact of Plymouth County agriculture, including the many businesses and industries, within Plymouth County, that provide value-added products. Many times, we forget these businesses have an agricultural connection.”

Jacobson and Schroeder said the people of Plymouth County made the new exhibit possible.

“A major portion of funding for this exhibit,” said Schroeder, “is from the local options sales tax.

“We are extremely grateful to the Board of Supervisors and the people of Plymouth County. This agricultural education exhibit is about Plymouth County and the people of Plymouth County.”
