By Staff | Jun 4, 2014

ADEL – A 4-H and FFA open horse show is set for June 28 in Dallas County.

This free event is open to the public. Classes will include trail, in-hand, showmanship, English, Western, hunter-hack, miniature mumping, pony pleasure, novice rider, pole bending, barrel racing and bareback.

Both rider and horse will be put to the challenge as judges scrutinize the animal’s walk, extended trot and canter. Riders will have to prove themselves by displaying finesse pertaining to seat, hands and general horsemanship.

Crowds will see riders maneuver during timed events as horses weave through a 6-pole pattern and in the shape of a clover leaf around barrels.

This event is open to all Iowa 4-H and FFA members.

Classes will be divided based on school grade as of Sept. 15, 2013.

Cost to show is $5 per class or $30 for the whole day.

All around hi-point champion buckles will be awarded to each division senior, intermediate and junior.
