25th antique power, craft show set

BELMOND – The Prairie Homestead Antique Power and Country Craft Show is set for Aug.15 through 17, two miles north and one mile east of Belmond.

The show, sponsored by the Belmond Area Arts Council, is set on a 1930’s farmstead. Admission is $7.

The gates open daily at 7 a.m each day.

The 2014 event is featuring International Harvester tractors and equipment and is hosting the Chapter 5 Iowa IH Club summer gathering.

Maytag engines will also be featured and will be one of the major Maytag shows this year. The craft show will be held all three days.

Entertainment will be provided by Bill Dewy and the Dynamics each day.

There will be food, modern restrooms, a country school house, barn, corn crib and the original farm house.

On Friday there will be an IH-only tractor pull followed by a spark show and fireworks.

On Saturday will be a sanctioned antique tractor pull along with the KLMJ tractor ride.

On Sunday there will be a church service at 9 a.m., followed by activities with a tractor and quilt drawing in the afternoon.

Activities include a petting zoo, plowing, threshing, corn shelling, wood sawing, potato harvest, blacksmithing, cider pressing, corn picking, quilt demonstrations and rug making.

This is a working show.
