A Saturday jaunt

By Staff | Aug 22, 2014
By 1 p.m. the tractor riders were ready to start the afternoon with the next stop at Lake Cornelia. Trent Stone, of Williams, was driving a 1954 Ford NAA his father bought new including the Dearborn belly-mounted sickle mower. “I mowed a lot of road ditches with this,” said Stone.
How could someone be more loyal than to have their favorite tractor’s emblem tattooed on their arm? Leroy Kleveland, of Joice, did. He was driving a 1948 IH M.
Tractors filled two streets around the city park in Kanawha when drivers stopped for their noon meal during Saturday’s KLMJ tractor ride.
Carol Lockett, of Hampton, drives a borrowed 1941 Farmall H on her first tractor ride. “I’m having a great time,” she said.
These tractors were just north of Kanawha on Saturday morning preparing to stop for the noon meal, during radio station KLMJ’s 12th annual tractor ride. General manager Craig Donnelly estimated about 100 tractors were participating. The route started and ended at the Belmond site of the Prairie Homestead Power Show held Aug. 15 through Sunday.
