Extension sets ornamental, turfgrass applicators course

FORT DODGE – The Webster County Iowa State University Extension office will offer an ornamental and turfgrass applicators continuing instructional course for commercial pesticide applicators from 1 p.m.to 4 p.m. on Nov. 5. The program can be seen at locations across Iowa through the ISU Extension Pest Management and the Environment program.

The course will provide continuing instructional credit for commercial pesticide applicators certified in categories 3O, 3T, 3OT, and 10.

Topics to be covered include effects of pesticides on groundwater and other non-target sites and pesticide persistence; phytotoxicity; invasive turfgrass species; cultural turfgrass management for sports fields; emerald ash borer update; benefits of trees; pesticides, pest management, and pesticide stewardship.

The registration fee is $35 on or before Oct. 29 and $45 after Oct. 29. Contact Ally Zagers at the Webster County Extension office at (515) 576-2119.
