ISU hosting Good Ag Practices workshops

SIOUX CITY – Iowa State University Extension will offer a pair of one-day Good Agricultural Practices workshops in Sioux City on Nov.19 and Nov. 25.

Fruit and vegetable growers can learn buyers’ food safety requirements involving GAPs. Workshops are offered as level one and level two.

Level one covers growers providing food to consumers through community supported agriculture, farmers markets or considering retail food service sales.

Level two guides farmers through written farm food safety plans selling produce to grocers, restaurants, hospitals and other institutions.

Leading the workshops will be Angela Shaw, an Extension food safety specialist; Catherine Strohbehn, an Extension food safety and local food systems specialist; and Linda Naeve, an Extension value added agriculture specialist.
