FORT DODGE – Iowa State University Extension will offer a free, Smart Choice health insurance workshop from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Nov. 12.

The Health Insurance Marketplace opens on Nov. 15, so it is time for consumers to choose their health insurance for 2015.

Selecting a policy involves more than just looking at the monthly premium cost.

Consumers need to understand out-of-pocket costs and consider health care needs and available options.

Bronze, silver, gold, and platinum plans will be discussed.

The workshop will explain how cost assistance works using premium tax credits and will provide info regarding eligibility for free insurance.

Barb Wollan, an ISU family finance specialist, will lead the workshop.
