Webster County sets farm bill overview meeting set

FORT DODGE – A meeting informing farmers and landowners regarding the new programs authorized by the Agricultural Act of 2014 is set from 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m., Jan. 6, 2015 at the East Auditorium at the Webster County Fairgrounds.a

The meeting will focus on the Price Loss Coverage and Agricultural Risk Coverage that will be administered by USDA FSA, and the Supplemental Coverage Option will be administered by USDA Risk Management Agency through federal crop insurance providers.

“We are prepared to discuss decisions farmers and landowners will need to make in the coming months as they consider all their options,” said Kelvin Leibold, farm management specialist with ISU Extension. “We’ll cover the timeline for when decisions need to be made along with information about our online Farm Bill decision tools.”

The main topics that will be covered during the meetings are:

  • Base reallocation.
  • Yield updating.
  • Price Loss Coverage.
  • Ag Risk Coverage.
  • Implications of PLC and ARC on participation in the Supplemental Coverage Option.
  • Dairy Margin Protection Program.
  • Noninsured Crop Disaster Assistance Program.
