Clay County Fair brings home eight awards

SPENCER (CCF) – The Clay County Fair lived up to its billing as “The World’s Greatest County Fair” by receiving eight awards at the 124th Annual International Association of Fairs and Expositions Convention held last week in Las Vegas.

“Eight awards are the most we have received during my tenure,” said CCF Manager Jeremy Parsons. “We are truly honored to receive this recognition from our peers.”

The IAFE awards program allows member fairs to enter competitions based on competitive exhibits, agricultural education and communications. The entries are evaluated and judged by teams of industry leaders.

For the awards program, the more than 1,000 member fairs of the IAFE are split into five categories based on attendance. The Clay County Fair competes in Division 3, which is limited to fairs across the globe with an attendance of 250,000 to 500,000.

The Clay County Fair claimed the following awards:

  • 1st place, “Outstanding Create it on the Spot Contest,” Competitive

Exhibits Awards Junior Gingerbread House Decorating Contest

  • 2nd place, “What was newly established or developed at your fair to

promote agriculture,” Agriculture Awards Crop plots by Grandpa’s Barn

“Competitive Exhibit Display Photo Series,” Competitive

Exhibits Awards Junior Gingerbread House Decorating Contest

“Best Single Brochure/Flyer,” Communication Awards

  • 3rd place, “Best Magazine Ad,” Communication Awards

“Best Overall Social Media Campaign,” Communication Awards

“General Display Photo Series,” Competitive Exhibits Awards

Parsons was also named chair of the IAFE Membership Committee. The IAFE is a voluntary, not-for-profit corporation, serving state, provincial, regional and county agricultural fairs, shows, exhibitions, and expositions. Its associate members include state and provincial associations of fairs, non agricultural expositions and festivals, associations, corporations, and individuals engaged in providing products and services to its members, all of whom are interested in the improvement of fairs and allied fields
