NW Iowa young farmer group to gather Feb. 4
LE MARS – The Northwest Iowa Young Farmer group, an Iowa State University Extension program, will gather from 1:15 p.m. to 7 p.m. Feb. 4, beginning with a tour of Plymouth Energy, at 22234 K 42, in Merrill, and then moves to the Blue Bunny Ice Cream Parlor, at 115 Central Ave., Le Mars, for presentations, a round table discussion, networking and a meal.
Farmers will hear about Farm Service Agency loans for young farmers and an update from the Beginning Farmer Center featuring David Baker, a farm transition specialist with ISU Extension.
Other ISU Extension specialists will be available during the roundtable discussion.
“We recognize an opportunity to reach young farmers who are faced with the challenge of feeding America and the challenges of operating a farm today,” said ISU Extension swine specialist, Dave Stender. “We can help by offering them tools they need to meet this challenge.”
There is no cost for this event, contact Janelle Johnson at the ISU Extension office in Plymouth County to pre-register at (712) 546-7835 or email at email@example.com.
