Calhoun County sets second farm bill program meeting

ROCKWELL CITY A second farm bill program overview meeting is set from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Monday at the Expo Center located on the Calhoun County Fair Grounds.

Iowa farmers and landowners will learn about new programs authorized by the Agricultural Act of 2014.

The meeting will be conducted by Iowa State University Extension and U.S. Department of Agriculture Farm Service Agency and U.S. Department of Agriculture Risk Management staff members.

ISU Extension Farm Management Program Specialist, Shane Ellis will facilitate the meeting and speakers from the USDA Farm Service Agency and USDA Risk Management Agency including Mary Roberts, Calhoun County Executive Director for U.S. Department of Agriculture Farm Service Agency, will discuss decisions farmers and landowners will need to make in the coming months regarding Price Loss Coverage, County Agricultural Risk Coverage, and Individual Agricultural Risk Coverage options.

There is no registration fee. However, pre registration 48 hours in advance is required by contacting the Calhoun County Extension office at (712) 297-8611. Pre registration will assure adequate materials, seating and refreshments.
