March 12 Ag Education Day speakers announced
EMMETSBURG – Kossuth/Palo Alto County Economic Development Corporation, along with its ag committee and area ag related businesses, are hosting an Ag Education Day from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 12 at the Wild Rose Casino in Emmetsburg.
The theme for this year’s event is “Ag Education Day.” The event will feature topics including:
- World trends and implications for the Midwest.
- Weather outlook and projections.
- Generations working together.
- Agricultural and economic outlook.
- Bioenergy and integrating food and fuel production.
- POET’s Project LIBERTY.
Guest speakers include:
- Dr. David Kohl, professor emeritus, Department of Agricultural and Applied Economics, Virginia Tech.
- Dr. Elwynn Taylor, professor of Agronomy & Meteorology at Iowa State University.
- Dr. Sidney Goss, professor emeritus, South Dakota School of Mines & Technology.
- Dr. Brenda Clark Hamilton, founder of Fresh Coffee:Professional Growth Programs.
- Dr. John D. Lawrence, associate dean and director, Agriculture & Natural Resources Extension at Iowa State University.
- Dr. Emily Heaton, professor of Agronomy at Iowa State University.
- Daron Wilson, general manager at POET Biorefining, Emmetsburg.
A registration form is included in brochures available at area cooperatives, banks, libraries, implement dealerships, city halls, and ISU Extention offices in Algona and Emmetsburg.

Individuals may register at the door the day of the event. Cost for the event is $25 per person through Feb. 28 and includes lunch. After March 1, the registration fee will be $30 per person. Cost for students is $15.
