Hardin County sets sheep, goat weigh-in
ELDORA – The sheep and meat goat weigh-in will be held from 9-11 a.m. May 2, at the Hardin County Fairgrounds in Eldora.
Sheep – A maximum of 15 market sheep and 10 breeding sheep may be weighed and identified. A $1 ear tag fee per animal will be charged.
Meat Goats – A maximum of 10 meat goats (market and breeding combined) may be weighed and identified. A $1 ear tag fee per animal will be charged. Goats must weigh between 50-110 lbs. to show at the fair.
State Fair Verification Only
- ALL commercial ewes and breeding does will be required to have a 4-H ear tag.
- Retinal images are required for commercial ewes and all meat goats.
- State Fair Verification for sheep and meat goats will be held at the Hardin County Fairgrounds, from 9-11 a.m. May 2. Cost is $6 per head for verification fees.
All commercial ewe lambs and all meat goats nominating for State Fair MUST have been retinal imaged and have a 4-H ear tag in place. That tag must be written down on their 4-H 106 ID form or entered into the HMSO system by May 15.
