By Staff | Jun 1, 2015

ARNOLD?PARK – The fourth annual Northwest Iowa 4-H Golf Benefit is set from 10:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. June 19 at Emerald Hills Golf Club, Arnolds Park.

Organizers for the 4-H sponsored event include Bob Butcher, executive vice-president of Community Bank in Holstein, cattleman in Ida County, and Iowa 4-H president and his spouse, Connie Butcher.

Thirty-nine team sponsorships will participate in the benefit providing essential resources that allow youth to develop their communication, citizenship and leadership skills through 4-H.

“The business leaders in northwest Iowa and beyond know that 4-H helps youth become their best, and that makes for stronger families, better communities and a brighter future,” said Bob Butcher. “Supporting the Iowa 4-H Foundation through this golf tournament provides a great opportunity for businesses to express their appreciation for 4-H and enjoy a day of networking on a beautiful golf course.”

The “Going for the Green” sponsors for 2015 come from 14 different counties in the northwest quadrant of the state.

DuPont Pioneer is the Presenting Sponsor, represented by: Holstein Ag Services, Phillips Ag Center, Boling Seed and Kerry Brown Seed.

Event Sponsors include: Stine Seed, represented by local Stine Seed Dealers; Scoular Company, Kansas City; Carroll County State Bank, Carrol; Community Bank, Holstein; Quad County Corn Processors, Galva, and Syngenta Seed, represented by Jim Peterson Seed, Washta.

The contributions of these sponsors help underwrite the major costs of hosting the benefit and enhance the opportunity to raise significant funding for 4-H.

This support is used to offset program fees and make 4-H participation possible for all Iowa youth; to provide incentive and award opportunities for 4-H members on local, state and national levels; to provide learning opportunities through special programs, camps and conferences for youth and adult volunteers; to provide scholarships for 4-H members to continue their education; to recognize Iowa 4-H youth and volunteers for their excellence in projects and service; to make improvements to the Iowa 4-H camping center, including a tornado safe room; and for many other worthy programs that benefit Iowa youth and families.

A number of Hospitality Sponsors are also supporting the Northwest Iowa 4-H Golf Benefit. Hospitality Sponsors include: Ronda and Harry Edwards, in memory of Robert J. Butcher; Northwest Bank, Spencer; Monsanto, represented by Matt Otto Seed, Holstein; Producers Livestock, Omaha, NE and Sioux City; NorAm Cold Storage, LeMars; Mycogen Seed, represented by Eric Nelson Seed in Moville; First Coop Association, Moville, and Wyfells Hybrid, represented by Nathan Johnson, Holstein.

Golfers will enjoy a lunch buffet; best ball, putting and hole contests throughout the afternoon. A celebratory dinner begins at 6:30 p.m. concluding the evening.

Auction items include: ISU basketball tickets, a family portrait photo session, seed corn or soybeans from sponsoring companies, athletic memorabilia, athletic ticket packages, a group dinner at an award-winning NW Iowa restaurant, and many other items donated by supporters of 4-H.
