POCAHONTAS – Pocahontas and Buena Vista Women, Land and Legacy members will sponsor their first “Listening Session” event for women interested in agriculture and natural resources offering two sessions, June 11 at the Expo Center, Pocahontas County Fairgrounds, 310 N.E. First St., Pocahontas.

Sessions begin:

  • 12:30 3 p.m.
  • 6-8:30 p.m.

Women, Land and Legacy is an outreach project in Iowa that brings women that are interested in agriculture and natural resources together at the local level to converse, listen and become empowered for involvement on their landscape and in their communities. Pocahontas and Buena Vista Counties are the newest counties to become part of this statewide effort and have chosen to work together and combine efforts. WLL is sponsored by a partnership of U.S. Department of Agriculture, state and local agencies, other local organizations, businesses, and local agricultural women.

The session is open to the public. All women from Pocahontas and Buena Vista Counties that are involved and interested in agriculture are encouraged to attend. Pre-registration is encouraged and available through June 9, 2015. Contact Holly Frerk, Program Coordinator at the Pocahontas County Extension Service office at (712) 335-3103, email: hfrerk@iastate.edu to pre-register.

Refreshments and door prizes will be provided. Future WLL sessions will take place in both Buena Vista and Pocahontas counties.

The Listening Session is an important first step in the WLL process and is an opportunity for local women to connect and network with each other as well as local agencies, organizations and businesses. See more about WLL on Facebook or at www.womenlandandlegacy.org.
