Food preservation workshop set

ALGONA – A Home Food Preservation 101 class will be offered from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. June 23 at the Kossuth County Extension office.

The class will provide an overview of general food preservation principles. The class includes current recommendations for canning, freezing and drying, a display of equipment and utensils, and sources for safe and tested food preservation information.

Since 2006, there have been new at-home recommendations and guidelines available. Participants will receive current Iowa State University Extension food preservation publications and learn about the “Preserve the Taste of Summer” program. Cost for the session is $10.
