AMES – Iowa State University’s Beef Nutrition Research Showcase returns for a third year from 9:30 a.m.to3p.m.Oct.2atthe Hansen Center.
This is a free event.
Iowa Beef Center and ISU beef nutrition faculty and staff planning the event said the 2015 event builds on the successful format of past showcases with class- room-style learning and on- farm tours highlighting a wide variety of ISU re- search.
Associate animal science
professor Stephanie Hansen said the showcase begins and ends at the ISU Hansen Agriculture Student Learn- ing Center on the south side of campus at 2516 Mortensen Road, in Ames. It will be held rain or shine.
“We will have research and sponsor presentations, followed by lunch,” Hansen said. “Attendees will hear about a variety of Iowa State research topics, in- cluding feed efficiency, mineral nutrition, novel feedstuffs and grazing man- agement techniques.”
During the morning ses- sion, Lee Schulz, an ISU Extension livestock econo- mist, will offer a presenta- tion on the market outlook for the beef industry.
During lunch, partici- pants will get updates from program sponsor Elanco
Animal Health. Buses will then transport
attendees to the ISU Beef Nutrition Farm where tours of several cattle trials will take place.
This portion of the pro- gram will run until approxi- mately 3 p.m. and buses
will transport people back to the Hansen Center.
Elanco Animal Health is subsidizing the entire Beef Nutrition Research Show- case, however, preregister- ation is essential to assure adequate transportation and materials, and an accu-
rate meal count for atten- dees.
