Bill Stowe, CEO and general manager of the Des Moines Water Works. Stowe cited scheduling conflicts for cancelling a planned presentation in Fort Dodge.

Bill Stowe, chief executive officer and general manager of the Des Moines Water Works, was scheduled to speak at 1 p.m. Thursday on water quality and the lawsuit DMWW filed against drainage districts in Buena Vista, Calhoun and Sac counties for nitrate releases in the Raccoon and Des Moines rivers.

Stowe contacted Farm News Monday announcing a scheduling conflict. He said that neither he or a representative would be able to attend or speak at the ag show.

“There are several things going on that require me to stay close to Des Moines,” Stowe said.

Stowe declined to comment on a report that threats were made against him while speaking at other public events on this subject.
