Le Mars hosting CAS Jan. 26

LE MARS – Iowa State University Extension will hold a Crop Advantage Series meeting in Le Mars from 10 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. Jan. 26, at the Le Mars Convention Center, in Le Mars.

Registration will begin at 9:30 a.m. Joel DeJong, an ISU Extension field agronomist, will host the meeting.

Advance registration is $50, which includes workshop materials, lunch and refreshments. Registration is $60 after Tuesday, or at the door.

Keynote speaker Alejandro Plastina, an ISU Extension economist, will lead the day with “Managing Margins in 2016 and Beyond.”

Followed by breakout sessions on unmanned aerial vehicles and big data; insects; plant diseases management; cover crops; soil fertility when margins are tight; genetic selection; weed issues; and 2015 research results.

All speakers are ISU Extension specialists.

Certified Crop Advisers can obtain up to five continuing education credits. The fee for the CCA credits is included in the registration cost.

Private pesticide applicators will be able to obtain their continuing instructional course credits at this meeting.

The cost for the private pesticide applicator certification is included in the registration fee.
