By Staff | Mar 14, 2016

OKOBOJI – Pork producers in northwest Iowa can attend a one-day swine production seminar from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 23 at the Arrowwood Resort Conference Center, 1405 U.S. Highway 71, Okoboji.

The program is sponsored by Hubbard Feeds, Iowa State University Extension, University of Minnesota Extension and Elanco.

ISU Extension swine program specialist Dave Stender said the program is geared toward pork operation decision-makers including owners and managers. A lunch will be provided.

“Regardless of the type of operation, if you’re involved in making decisions on your farm, you’ll want to attend this program,” Stender said. “There’s no cost and no preregistration required.”

Topics range from up-and-coming nutrition, research and technologies in swine production to new marketing opportunities for producers to a market analysis and an open discussion on current industry issues.

Additionally, attendees will learn about the new Triumph packing plant coming to Sioux City.

Speakers include Brad Freking, of New Fashion Pork; Dr. Tim Loula, of the Vet Center; Joe Kerns, of Kerns & Associates; and John Patience and Stender, both from ISU.
