TITONKA – Free books, home activity packets, prizes and fun are part of free, six-week Family Storyteller Program coming to the Titonka Public Library.

Iowa State University Extension and Titonka Public Library are partnering to offer a family literacy program for parents and children ages 0-6.

The six weekly sessions are scheduled for Thursday evenings from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. starting March 31 and continuing each week until May 5.

The storyteller program will help parents learn key reading concepts, learn verbalizing and vocalizing techniques, get a special time with their children and enjoying reading and activities.

Parents will learn reading techniques and then practice reading books to their children. Fun language and craft activities done in the sessions and sent home each week, will complement the books and extend the learning.

Funding for the program is provided by Early Childhood North Central Iowa.

Preregister by contacting the Titonka Public Library at (515) 928-2509 or Kossuth County Extension at (515) 295-2469.
