Two hurt in co-op blast

By Staff | Mar 24, 2016

HINTON – Cal Dickinson, chief executive officer for Central Valley Ag, said Monday that although injured employees and their families are the cooperative’s major concern at this time, an investigation continues into the explosion on March 17 at its Hinton site.

The State Fire Marshall office said Monday the cause of the explosion was still not known.

“We have two priorities at this point; No. 1 is to care for our employees, the two individuals who were injured on site, and all of our other employees who work at our Hinton location,” he said. “The second priority is to identify what happened so we can do everything in our power to ensure it never happens again.”

The community has established a fund to help victims. The State Fire Marshall’s office said Monday the two injured workers- Shane Noreen, 29, and Gustavo Gutierrez, 24, – are in critical condition from burns at the Nebraska Medical Center, in Omaha.
