Will vote for Steve King
To the editor,
The Small Ethanol Tax Credit opened the door to investment in Iowa’s renewable fuels industry. This legislation, written by Steve King, helped fundamentally change the farm economy in Iowa for the better.
Steve knows his district, production agriculture and his constituents. I know I can count on him to represent my interest in Congress because of his knowledge, connection and dedication.
No one has sponsored more successful amendments to legislation than Steve has – unlike many other legislator, he doesn’t need to have his name on a bill to make a difference legislatively.
Last year, when High Pathological Avian Influenza affected producers in Iowa, Steve went to work. He helped connect producers with the government agencies and then called out those bureaucrats who failed to do their job.
He investigated disposal methods, visited farms and immersed himself in the process because he cares about all those impacted.
When the Environmental Protection Agency was threatening to reduce the Renewable Fuels Standard, Steve was right where we needed him, leading the opposition and fighting for us.
His position on the RFS is the same today no matter what you may hear. I’ve spoken with him about it and know he remains our strongest ally in Congress on this issue.
Similarly, Steve has led the charge against the EPA’s Waters of the United States rule which threatened the livelihood of all in production agriculture.
WOTUS represents the kind of government overreach we should all be concerned about.
Steve represents us well because he has not let his time in Washington, D.C., change him. He’s honest, he’s blunt, he’s hard-working, and we need him to remain in Congress representing us.
At a time when market forces are shifting and the farm economy is weakening, I want someone with experience and a good head on his shoulders in the U.S. House.
That is why I will be voting for Congressman Steve King.
