ISU Extension to host SafeFood for 4-Hers

By Staff | May 24, 2016

SIBLEY – Iowa State University Extension invites area 4-H members, leaders and parents to attend an interactive food safety event from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., June 7 at the Osceola County Hospital education room.

The course is designed to help youth and adults better understand how to safely handle food, whether that be for fundraisers, food stands or even 4-H projects.

Every club is encouraged to have at least one youth and one adult representative in attendance, but the event is open to the public.

“SafeFood is a short course on food safety from Isu Extension’s human sciences,” said Mackenzie DeJong, workshop presenter. “Through interactive activities, we look at proper cooking temperatures, hygiene, cross-contamination, and proper cleaning and sanitization practices.”

The SafeFood for 4-Hers event is free for all 4-H youth and adult participants, but does require pre-registration by June 3 at (712) 754-3648.
