Feedyard self-assessment workshops set
Consumers are telling beef packers they want to know how the beef they eat is being raised, and packers are listening.
Packers are requesting feedlot producers complete a feedyard self-assessment outlining the care cattle get.
To help producers learn how to complete this assessment, a series of one-hour workshops will be held across northwest Iowa.
They are:
A). June 1 at the Harold Peyton feedlot in Lytton.
B). June 2 at the Kent Pruismann feedlot in Rock Valley.
C). July 8 at Winter Feedlots in Akron,
D). July 13 at the Ron and Clayton Christenson Feedlot near Royal.
All workshops are from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. and free.
The workshops are sponsored by ISU Extension, the Iowa Beef Industry Council and Iowa Cattlemen’s Association.
To register for a field day, contact Beth Doran, an ISU Extension beef field specialist, at (712) 737-4230 or doranb@iastate.edu.
