Second-annual CCF Gadget Show now taking registrations
SPENCER – The second annual Farm Gadget Show is now accepting entries for the 2016 Clay County Fair.
During the nine days of the Fair, these unique gadgets can be found in and around the Innovation Pavilion in the southwest corner of the fairgrounds.
“All entries should be something that can be used on the farm,” said Karen Schwaller, superintendent of the Farm Gadget department. “Farmers are some of the most creative people I know.”
Often farmers are unable to buy or find the “right tool for the job,” leading them to make a new and improved gadget to get the job done.
Any of these unique innovations can be entered as an exhibit.
Schwaller also said that anything a person wants to finish up in time for the show can be shown at the Fair.
She said the items can be of any size, whether it’s a hand tool, or needs to be hauled onto the fairgrounds.
Along with the gadget, all entries need to have a plastic-protected description, its intended use, and safety qualities.
Entries will be judged on workmanship, design, usefulness, appearance, safety and creative use of resources.
“Last year’s inaugural gadget show was definitely a success,” said Jeremy Parsons, fair manager. “We can’t wait to see what new and unique gadgets are entered this year.”
Preregistration is required for this department and must be postmarked on or before Aug. 15.
Entry forms and more information are available online at www.claycountyfair.com or at the Clay County Fair Administration Building in Spencer.
