An estimated 4.5 million bushels of corn is piled up at NEW Cooperative in Knierim on Oct. 31. Mike DeLanoit, assistant manager, said it has been an “unbelievable” year for yields. According to the latest report from the Iowa office of USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service, 86 percent of the corn crop for grain has been harvested, which is four days behind last year and one day behind the five-year average. Grain movement from farm to elevator was rated 62 percent moderate to heavy, according to the report issued by the Iowa Department of Agriculture.
